In Loving Memory of Bret Anthony Mahoney
August 14, 1975 – August 28, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Bret Anthony Mahoney, who left this world on August 28, 2025, at the age of 50. Bret was a man of unwavering loyalty and a love for life that touched everyone around him.
Born on August 14, 1975, Bret grew up in a home filled with faith, family, and the kind of warmth that builds lifelong friendships. He was a leader in the Harvester Church of the Nazarene Youth Group, where his charisma and compassion helped shape the lives of many. His early years were marked by a strong sense of community and a deep-rooted love for those closest to him.
Bret graduated from Francis Howell North High School, where he served as captain of the football team—a role that reflected his natural leadership and dedication. Though a knee injury ended his collegiate football career at Lindenwood University, Bret’s resilience led him to complete his bachelor’s degree in business at Mid-America Nazarene University (MNU).
He found his professional calling in the wheel and tire industry and ended up at Community Wholesale Tire, where his passion for cars and trucks flourished. Whether it was off-roading through rugged terrain or cruising in one of his vehicles, Bret’s enthusiasm for 4x4ing was matched only by the joy he found in sharing those adventures with others.
In recent years, Bret found a renewed joy reconnecting with high school friends, and they adopted the name “FHN93” embracing with laughter and gratitude.
Above all, Bret was a devoted father to his daughter, Cadence Jewel “CJ” Mahoney. Their bond was unbreakable—whether they were rocking out at concerts, cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals, or simply enjoying each other’s company. CJ was the light of Bret’s life, and he cherished every moment they spent together.
Bret is preceded in death by his loving mother, Karen Marlene Mahoney; grandparents John “Jack” and Veronica “Bonnie” Mahoney, and Harold “Yo” and Juanita “Nita” aka “Mo” Walker. He is survived by his father Gerald “Gerry” Mahoney and Bret’s beloved daughter CJ; sister Kara Mahoney and her partner Jeremy Wheeler, along with Jeremy’s daughter and Kara’s Bonus Kid Charlotte “Charlie” Wheeler.
Bret lives on in the hearts of all who know him. His spirit, his stories, and his smile will never be forgotten. He truly lived his “best life,” surrounded by those who meant the most to him.
